Full-time MBA

中国沉浸项目

The HKU MBA’s dual focus on Asia-Pacific and China business renders it highly relevant to the wider region’s dynamic and ever-evolving business environment. Our unique China Immersion Programme provides students with the opportunity to learn about the vast diversity of China’s economy as well as the local business practices and culture. Students will get to visit various cities in Mainland China in order to understand one of the biggest and most important economies in the world, and while there will have the opportunity to build networks and connections with some of the best known companies within these cities.

The China Immersion Programme is designed to reinforce academic theory taught in the classroom through experiential learning, which is delivered via company visits, executive talks, and cultural immersion in Mainland China. The programme starts with the students learning about Hong Kong’s own business environment upon their arrival at HKU, followed by a chance to experience the Greater Bay Area during the first part of the China Immersion Programme at the end of the autumn term. Throughout the programme, students get opportunities to interact and network with business leaders and decision-makers at leading Chinese and international firms, as well as with HKU MBA alumni. These opportunities enrich them with a holistic view of local business practices and provide a valuable insight on recruitment processes and talent acquisition needs in the area.

On completion of their final foundation course, the students end their China Immersion Programme in Beijing. The time in Beijing will enable the students to deepen their understanding of the vast diversity of China’s economy as well as the cultural differences between China’s north and south. Students will also have the opportunity to learn about the local cultures of each region, and the influence local culture has on society, through group tours and cultural events.

Class of 2022 China Immersion Programme
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year the programme is designed to showcase the best of Chinese culture here within Hong Kong, providing an experience to foster academic learning, inspire cultural conversations, and offer some hands-on activities.

The first session this year was kicked off by an all-day field trip to Lantau Island, one of the largest islands in Hong Kong and steeped in history. Our Full-time students visited Ngong Ping via cable car to witness the majestic outdoor bronze Buddha statue “Big Buddha”, also known as Tian Tan Buddha, followed by a uniquely Chinese vegetarian lunch from Po Lin Monastery.

Students then embarked on a heritage walk to explore Tai O fishing village which included visits to the Kwan Tai Temple, built-in 1488 to honour the God of War and Righteousness, as well as the local market, one of the oldest and most vibrant in Hong Kong, immersing themselves in the local street culture and lifestyle.
