Full-time MBA

Working with a bulge bracket investment bank such as J.P.Morgan was my dream since my father introduced me to this fascinating business. During the 3 years that I spent on the Asian debt capital markets­ desk working with directors from Singapore and Hong Kong, I realised my career aspiration – to have a Pan-Asian oversight of the line of business I would be working in. Hence, I needed to strategically shift base to Hong Kong.

One of the ways I could achieve this was to study for an MBA in Hong Kong, and I could not find a better university than HKU. The HKU MBA programme’s location in the heart of the financial district, access to the largest alumni base in Asia, world class faculty from around the world, the diverse backgrounds of students both culturally and professionally, and the experience at the London Business School (one of three partner schools) were strong motivators.

Reflecting on how I moved closer to my aspiration, I would say I am very satisfied. The HKU MBA programme offered innumerable opportunities to learn about my industry not only through case studies and lectures in class but also through the networking opportunities in the form of guest lectures, company visits, career treks and express networking Hong Kong style at plush bars and lounges.

My time in London truly completed my MBA experience. Sharing the classroom with the some of the smartest and sharpest minds in the industry, working with them on assignments and taking part in student club activities (dragon boat racing, cricket, football, going to movies) was enriching.

For me, gaining a HKU MBA is a roller-coaster ride spanning three countries. It is fast, thrilling and definitely not for the weak hearted.
