Emily Pan
Class of 2024

My name isYanting (Emily) Pan, and I am from Guangzhou, China. I graduated from the University of Waterloo, Canada, with a Bachelor of Mathematics Honours Statistics and currently work as Product Director at PanzerGlass, a European company providing screen protection to electronic devices.

I am an ambitious, positive-thinking person. I like challenges and adventures, and I am willing to push myself out of my comfort zone and always strive for growth – both personally and professionally. After graduating, I worked in Canada for a few years. However, I saw huge opportunity in China and decided to return home, where I entered the product and supply chain industry.

Having worked in the product and supply chain industry for years in both Canada and China, I have in depth experience in cost reduction, product size and design, quality assurance, supplier complex evaluation, and so on. All this experience has helped me develop problem-solving skills, teamwork spirit, negotiation skills, management capabilities, and more.

In terms of personal development, I try to keep up with professional skill sets and industry knowledge. I obtained the Product Management Studio Certificate from University of California, Berkeley; gained the certificate of Project Management Professional (PMP) in 2022; and am currently preparing for the certification of The New Product Development Professional (NPDP) in 2023.

There are two main reasons for my choosing to study for an MBA now. I want to further improve my leadership and personal skills and move forward my career, and I also want to broaden my network by meeting great people from different backgrounds and industries who share similar values. I believe studying for an MBA will broaden my horizons and enrich my life experience.

The HKU MBA coursework covers a broad spectrum of topics relating to business. It will be challenging, but ultimately help me make better decisions in the business world by developing my professional qualities and divisive business management skills. This is beneficial for career advancement and entrepreneur startups.

The HKU MBA Programme provides students with a space to interact with ambitious and motivated people who share similar values. It’s a place to give advice and exchange ideas. HKU Business School also has a strong alumni network, making the programme a great place to meet new people. I look forward to contributing my time and efforts to the HKU alumni network.
