Jiantian Yu
Class of 2024

My name is Jiantian Yu and I have worked in the Internet industry for around 7 years. Internet commercialisation is an emerging industry which has begun to boom in recent years, and I am familiar with the many ways that traditional industries can perform a digital transformation of their operations. I began my career at Ogilvy & Mather, moved to ByteDance, and am now at Vivo. At ByteDance, I was the youngest team leader in the Business Development Department.

Although I am good at my current job and have several accomplishments to my name, it is an extremely demanding job. More recently, I realised that I need to advance my skills in business analysis and strategic design to keep up with the ever-changing demands and rapid changes of the internet industry. I want to study business from a broader perspective in order to better my business acumen and help improve my judgement regarding business-related situations. Being able to predict business opportunities requires dedicated studying of all types of business cases systematically.

The HKU GBA (HK-SZ) MBA is a perfect choice for students who work in Shenzhen; the biweekly class mode allows me to balance my studies with work. My classmates come from a variety of industries, each with their own background, experiences and points of view. They have provided me with a new perspective and inspired me to open my eyes to many new possibilities. I hope to obtain a deeper understanding of international business and develop my knowledge of the Asia market from the MBA programme.

HKU has a great reputation and is well-known worldwide. I have dreamed of studying at HKU since childhood, and it is my first and only choice. It’s an honour to study at this first-class institution, being taught by an industry-leading faculty and studying alongside motivated classmates who, like myself, are ambitious with big dreams and high expectations.
